Building Energy inaugurates 18-MW PV park at Maryland landfill

Building Energy SpA has cut the ribbon of an 18-MW solar farm, built on a closed landfill in Annapolis, Maryland, the independent power producer (IPP) of renewable energy said on Tuesday.

Around USD 36 million were invested in the Annapolis Solar Park project, which reached full production at the end of June.

The PV plant, built by EDF Renewables, is expected to produce some 24 GWh of power annually. It has 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the City of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and the Anne Arundel County Board of Education. It will also sell renewable energy credits (RECs).

Building Energy stepped in the US in 2013, where it now has 63 MW operational and about 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) and 200 MW of wind projects under development.

Annapolis Solar Park is a unit of Building Energy Holding US.
