(SeeNews) - Nov 14, 2013 - Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer Tonon Bioenergia plans to invest BRL 104 million (USD 44.5m/EUR 33.1m) in the expansion of its plant Vista Alegre, CFO and investor relations director, Marcelo Miyake told local business daily Valor yesterday.<br /> The facility is located in Maracaju municipality, central-western Mato Grosso do Sul state. With the investments, the plant's sugar cane processing capacity will be raised to 3.7 million tonnes from 2.5 million tonnes now. According to Miyake, Vista Alegre's expansion will be completed in 2015/16 crop.<br /> Tonon Bioenergia's investments will hit BRL 366 million in the 2014/15 crop, which will be a 42.9% annual hike.<br /> In the third quarter of 2013/14 crop year, ended September 30, Tonon posted a net loss of BRL 36.5 million, against a net profit of BRL 2.7 million in the same period of the previous crop year. The result was attributed to the Paraiso Energia plant, bought in May but incorporated in September 2013.<br /> The company's adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) grew by 22.7% to BRL 239.9 million in the third quarter of 2013/14 crop year.<br /> Tonon projects to process 8 million tonnes of sugar cane in its two plants in southeastern Sao Paulo state and in that in Mato Grosso do Sul in the ongoing crop year.<br /> (BRL 1.0 = USD 0.428/EUR 0.318)
