Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul inks green hydrogen pact

The government of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul will partner up with Green EN.IT and Ventos do Atlantico Energia Eolica SA in the development of green hydrogen projects.

On Tuesday, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that outlines their commitment to the plan. The deal was inked through the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment (Sema).

The state government said in a press statement that the green hydrogen MoU has a three-year term. In addition to project development, the agreement aims to enable the identification of possible regulatory and tax barriers.

London-based Green EN.IT has expertise in renewable energy and green hydrogen while local Ventos do Atlantico is planning to build a 516-MW wind park in Sao Jose do Norte, a municipality located in the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul.

This MoU is the fifth of its kind signed by the local government, following the deals made with Neoenergia, Enerfin, Ocean Winds and White Martins.
