Brazil's Porto das Barcas cleared to power up 12 MW at wind park
May 29, 2014 - Brazilian electricity sector watchdog Aneel has allowed local firm Porto das Barcas Energia, owned by local developer Omega Energia Renovavel, to start test operation of six 2-MW turbines at its wind farm in Piaui state.
The permit, valid since Wednesday, concerns Units 5 to 10, according to a decree in the state gazette.
Omega's Porto das Barcas wind plant is located in Ilha Grande and Parnaiba municipalities. Aneel has previously agreed to postpone the commercial operation for June 13, 2014 due to delays in the construction. Omega has also postponed the launch of its Delta do Parnaiba and Porto Salgado wind farms for June and July.
Contracted in 2011, the three projects were initially scheduled for 2013.
