Brazil's Petrobras transports 1st ethanol via Ribeirao Preto-Paulinia pipeline
Jun 28, 2013 - Brazilian oil an gas major Petrobras (SAO:PETR3) yesterday announced it transported the first ethanol via the 206-km (128 miles) Ribeirao Preto-Paulinia ethanol pipeline on Tuesday.
However, Petrobras did not disclose the volume of the transported ethanol, whose final destination is the company's refinery Replan, in Paulinia, southeastern Sao Paulo state.
The pipeline, which is operated by Petrobras' fuel transportation arm Transpetro, is aimed at transporting ethanol from producing regions to the country's largest ethanol consuming hubs in Sao Paulo.
The facility is the first phase of a BRL-7-billion (USD 3.183bn/EUR 2.438bn) ethanol distribution system, to be developed under Brazil's government's growth acceleration programme PAC.
The pipeline was built by Logum Logistica SA, in which Petrobras is a shareholder together with local Camargo Correa Construcoes e Participacoes SA, Copersucar SA, Raizen Energia SA, Odebrecht Transport Participacoes SA and Uniduto Logistica SA.
