Brazil's Omega acquires 97 MW of wind projects in Maranhao

January 9 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian renewable energy company Omega Geracao SA said on Wednesday it has closed the acquisition of two wind projects with a combined capacity of 97.2 MW in Maranhao state.

Omega is buying Delta Energia 7 SA and Delta Energia 8 SA from project development unit Omega Desenvolvimento. The buyer will pay more than BRL 282.8 million (USD 69.5m/EUR 62.6m) for the two assets.

According to the filling, the price may be adjusted based on the working capital variation of the projects. Additionally, some BRL 14.32 million could be paid in three years based on Delta 7's performance, along with a further BRL 4.7 million tied to Delta 8.

In December, the firm also announced the acquisition of 50 MW of wind parks in Bahia state.

With the conclusion of this deal, Omega Geracao has a total capacity of 571 MW under its Delta Complex and 1,195 MW overall, it noted.
