The Environmental Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul, also known as Imasul, gave on Friday preliminary licences to 535.75 MW of wood-based biomass projects.
The portfolio consists of 10 schemes with combined investments of up to BRL 2.76 billion (USD 734m/EUR 679m), located in the cities of Ribas do Rio Pardo, Aparecida do Taboado and Sonora. Their deadline for reaching commercial operation is set for January 1, 2021.
The licences were given to local groups Guarany Energetica, Eldorado, Florestas do Parana Energia and Cia Positiva de Energia. The said projects are expected to take part in the February 5 energy auction. Preliminary licences only attest to the environmental feasibility of the schemes.
