December 20 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian energy company CPFL Energia (BVMF:CPFE3) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Gustavo Estrella as its new chief executive officer.

Currently acting as chief financial officer and investor relations officer, Gustavo Estrella has been with the CPFL group since 2001 and will assume his new role on February 1, 2019.

Estrella will replace Andre Dorf, who has decided to dedicate himself to other professional projects. Deputy CFO Yuehui Pan will take Estrella's former position.

The company, which has a portfolio based on renewable sources, has been part of State Grid Corporation of China since January 2017. Last month, State Grid successfully concluded its tender offer for renewables firm CPFL Energias Renovaveis (BVMF:CPRE3).

Overall, the CPFL Group closed the second quarter of 2018 with 3,283 MW of installed capacity.
