Brazil's Centre-South sells 2bn litres of hydrous ethanol in Aug

September 13 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's Centre-South ethanol producers sold 1.97 billion litres (520.4 million gallons) of hydrous ethanol for the whole month of August.

Anhydrous ethanol sales stood at around 798.5 million litres. At 1.05 billion, hydrous ethanol sales broke a record for the last half of the month, local sugarcane industry association Unica announced on Wednesday.

Overall, total ethanol sales for August amounted to some 2.95 billion litres, of which around 2.77 billion litres of the biofuel was intended for the domestic market only and 180.2 million for export.

In regards to ethanol generation, the region produced some 776.35 million litres of anhydrous and 1.67 billion litres of hydrous ethanol in the final 15 days of August.

Since the beginning of the sugarcane harvest and up until September 1, the country has produced 20.50 billion litres of the biofuel, Unica noted.
