Brazil's biodisel production hits 301,000 cu m in April

May 27 (SeeNews) - Brazil produced 301,000 cu m of biodiesel in April, the Ministry of Mines and Energy said on Wednesday.

From January to April of this year, biodiesel production stood at 1.19 million cu m in Brazil, a 6% decrease compared to 2015, according data from the Renewable Fuels Monthly Bulletin, which covers biodiesel and ethanol production.

Brazil reached an installed annual production capacity of 7.24 million cu m in April, with the top biodiesel producing region being the midwest with a 49.1% share of the total. The south followed with a 40.1% share and the northeast region came third with 7.4%%.

Ethanol production totalled 2.89 billion litres (763.4 million gallons) in April, a 59% year-on-year increase. Of this volume, 1.9 billion were hydrous ethanol while the remaining were anhydrous, said the government quoting data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).
