(SeeNews) - Nov 25, 2013 - Brazilian energy sector watchdog Aneel received a request for an independent producer licence from the 8.1-MW wind power plant EOL Jurema Preta, according to a decree published in the State Gazette today.
The request includes the plant's adjacent transmission system. The facility is located in the Igapora municipality, northeastern Bahia state.
Jurema Preta is owned by local wind power developer Centrais Eolicas Itapua V Ltda.
Independent power producers are able to sell their surplus energy and distribute energy to large consumers, paying concessionaires for the use of transmission lines. The main difference between independent producers and concessionaires in Brazil is that the first operate at their own risk.
