(SeeNews) - Nov 21, 2013 - Brazilian energy sector watchdog Aneel received a request for an independent producer licence from the 18.9-MW wind power plant EOL Tingui, according to a decree published in the State Gazette yesterday.
The request includes the plant's adjacent transmission system. The facility is located in the Caetite municipality, northeastern Bahia state.
Tingui is owned by local wind power developer Centrais Eolicas Itapua VI Ltda.
Independent power producers are able to sell their surplus energy and distribute energy to large consumers, paying concessionaires for the use of transmission lines. The main difference between independent producers and concessionaires in Brazil is that the first operate at their own risk.
