(SeeNews) - Nov 21, 2013 - Brazilian energy sector watchdog Aneel received requests for independent producer licences for 14 wind power plants of local renewable energy developer Casa dos Ventos Energias Renovaveis SA, according to decrees published in the State Gazette yesterday.<br /> The requests are for the plants EOL Ventos de Santa Emilia, EOL Ventos de Santa Juliana, EOL Ventos de Santa Vitoria, EOL Ventos de Santa Aparecida and EOL Ventos de Santa Aurora, all with capacity of 28 MW and located in Morro do Chapeu municipality in northeastern Bahia state.<br /> The regulator also received requests for an independent producer licences for Casa dos Ventos' wind plants Ventos de Santa Luiza, Ventos de Santa Vera, Ventos de Santa Marcella, Ventos de Sao Bento, Ventos de Santo Antonio, Ventos de Sao Rafael, Ventos de Sao Joao, Itaguacu da Bahia and Ventos de Sao Cirilo. All these plants are located in the municipality of Itaguacu da Bahia, in Bahia state, and have capacity of 29 MW, each.<br /> Independent power producers are able to sell their surplus energy and distribute energy to large consumers, paying concessionaires for the use of transmission lines. The main difference between independent producers and concessionaires in Brazil is that the first operate at their own risk.
