(SeeNews) - Nov 13, 2013 - Brazilian electricity sector watchdog Aneel yesterday ratified the results of the first A-5 auction for 2013, held on August 29, when the output of 10 hydro and nine biomass thermal plants was contracted.<br /> These projects will have a combined installed capacity of 1,265 MW and they should start supplying electricity as of January 1, 2018.<br /> The list of the winners included the 400-MW Sinop hydroelectric power plant in the Mato Grosso state, whose power production has been sold for BRL 109.4 (USD 47/EUR 35) per MWh.<br /> Brazil will hold a second A-5 auction for the year on December 13, 2013.<br /> (BRL 1.0 = USD 0.429/EUR 0.319)
