AES Tiete Energia SA (B3:TIET11), now AES Brasil, has concluded the acquisition of the 187-MW Ventus Wind Complex in Rio Grande do Norte, the Brazilian energy company announced on Wednesday.
AES Brasil acquired the asset from domestic electric generation firm J Malucelli Energia SA for BRL 650 million (USD 124.6m/EUR 102.8m), including BRL 183 million in net debt.
In all, AES Brasil bought the special purpose companies (SPEs) that hold the Brasventos Eolo, Rei dos Ventos 3 and Miassaba 3 wind parks.
Operational since 2014, the Ventus complex has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) secured in the 2009 reserve energy auction. The PPA has an updated price of BRL 269.3 per MWh.
With the acquisition, AES Brasil now has an installed capacity of 3.9 GW in its renewable portfolio, it noted.
