(SeeNews) - Nov 19, 2013 - Yesterday's A-3 energy auction in Brazil contracted wind power at a price of BRL 124.4 (USD 54.9/EUR 40.6) per MWh on average, down 1.25% from the ceiling price.<br /> The tender, organised by Brazil's energy sector regulator Aneel, sold a total 332.5 average megawatts (MWa). Thus, 39 wind power plants of combined 867.7 MW contracted their future electricity output. Nineteen of the wind plants will be located in Brazil's South and 20 in the Northeast.<br /> According to Aneel, the agreed deals are worth BRL 7.253 billion. Some 20 power distributors made purchases at the auction, with Copel (SAO:CPLE6), Celg and Elektro (SAO:EKTR3) being the biggest buyers.<br /> Solar and biomass thermal plants which ran in A-3 failed to contract their output.<br /> The projects winners will have to start supplying electricity as of 2016.<br /> (BRL 1.0 = USD 0.441/EUR 0.327)
