Brazil's 45th biodiesel tender ends with 658m litres sold

Brazil's Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, or ANP, announced on Friday that 657.8 million litres of biodiesel were sold at its 45th biodiesel auction.

At an average price of BRL 2.406 (USD 0.639/EUR 0.562) per litre, the tender negotiated about BRL 1.58 billion in total. Lasting two days, the tender registered a sale of about 573 million litres on its first day, or 69.2% of the total offering.

All biodiesel sold had the government Social Fuel Seal, given to the producers that promote the social inclusion of the family farmers. At the auction, 36 producers offered a total volume of 827,787 million litres, of which 99.93% had the Social Fuel Seal.

The biodiesel tenders are designed to meet the legal requirement for at least 7% blend of biodiesel to diesel oil sold at the pump station. The 45th Biodiesel Auction will ensure the biofuel supply in the domestic market during the period from November to December 2015.
