Brazilian food co M Dias Branco agrees 18 MWa wind off-take

Brazilian food company M Dias Branco (BVMF:MDIA3) has signed a long-term contract to buy 18 average megawatts (MWa) of wind power from local energy company Omega Geracao SA (BVMF:OMGE3).
The wheat and rice crackers producers will be purchasing the electricity from three wind parks located in the city of Paulino Neves, Maranhao state, with a combined capacity of 97.2 MW, M Dias Branco announced last week.
No information about the value of the deal was disclosed.
With this partnership, M Dias Branco will be purchasing clean electricity in order to supply its manufacturing units under the self-production regime. The firm noted that this initiative follows its strategy to diversify its energy mix with renewable sources.
The closing of the agreement is subject to the verification of usual conditions for this type of transaction, such as the approval by antitrust regulator CADE.
