Long-duration storage firm Energy Dome secures USD 11m in bridge funding round
Jun 30, 2022 15:00 CEST(SeeNews) - Mar 5, 2013 - Brazilian wind power ventures hit record capacity factor last year, marking 2012 as the best year for the country's wind power generation so far, a report by local daily Valor Economico stated yesterday.
The report cites preliminary figures of statistics elaborated by Brazil's wind power generation association Abeeolica. The data shows that recently-built modern wind farms produced around 50% of their installed capacity in 2012. This outstanding capacity factor reportedly resulted manly from the excellent winds observed in the second half of the year.
According to Abeeolica, Brazilian mean wind power generation last year stood at 56.26 average megawatts (MWa). Peak production of 771 MWa was registered in October.
In 2012, the country's installed wind capacity jumped to 2,507.7 MW from 1,430.5 MW in 2011. However, of the total, at least 622 MW did not enter into operation due to delays in the construction of the ventures' transmission lines, Abeeolica pointed out.
