The Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy announced today it will hold a new energy auction on January 29, 2016, according to a statement in the official gazette.
The new tender will cover wind, biomass, hydropower, gas and coal sources. The contracts will be negotiated in the form of amount and availability of energy, with supply starting on January 1, 2021.
According the ministry's statement, the power purchase agreement (PPA) for each source will have a different term. More details on that can be found in the table below.
The deadline for submitting the papers to enter the auction is October 9. Brazil's electricity sector regulator Aneel will be responsible for organising the auction.
