(SeeNews) - Nov 19, 2013 - With the closure of the yesterday's A-3 power auction in Brazil, the country reached 2,367 MW sold in governmental auctions since the beginning of 2013.<br /> A total of 39 wind power plants, with combined capacity of 876.6 MW, sold their future output at the A-3 auction yesterday.<br /> However, as the country's government will hold one more power auction by the end of 2013, the so-called A-5, the volume of the contracted wind projects is seen to exceed the record set in 2011, when 2,900 MW were contracted, the state-run energy research company EPE projected.<br /> In August, Brazil's reserve power auction contracted the future generation of wind power plants with installed capacity of some 1,500 MW.<br /> The projects winners at the A-3 auction will have to start supplying electricity as of 2016.
