Brazil okays 19 MW from the April 29 energy auction

Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel approved on Tuesday two green projects, with a combined capacity of 18.96 MW, winners of the April 29 energy auction.

As of now, Aneel has given the green light to all 29 winning projects.

Owned by local Predilecta Alimentos Ltda, the 5-MW Predilecta biomass plant will be burning wood chips as a fuel source. The second project approved was the 13.96-MW Nova Guarope small hydropower plant (HPP), held by Nova Guapore Energetica SA.

Under the auction rules, power supply for both projects is scheduled to being on January 1, 2021, Aneel said in its press release.

The tender secured a total of 528.9 MW of power capacity from biomass and HPP projects. At a average price of BRL 198.59 per MWh (USD 60.80/EUR 54.32), the auction negociated around BRL 9.7 billion.
