Brazil greenlights 99 MW from Sept hydro auction

Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel approved today 22 winning projects with a combined capacity of 99.2 MW from the first reserve energy auction of 2016, held on September 23.

The tender, focused only on hydropower plants (HPPs), negotiated contracts with power supply scheduled to begin on March 1, 2020. The list of newly greenlit projects includes 22 projects.

In total, 180.32 MW of power capacity was secured at the auction, negotiated at BRL 227.02 per MWh (USD 66.13/EUR 61.43). As of now, Aneel has given the green light to 28 of the 30 winning projects.

The two remaining schemes have pending documentation so they have not yet receive Aneel's nod.
