(SeeNews) - Mar 12, 2013 - Brazilian Port of Fortaleza's manager Companhia Docas do Ceara (CDC) will seek new business opportunities with power sector players, especially those involved in wind power generation, during the All About Energy fair, local daily Diario do Nordeste reported on Monday.
All About Energy started yesterday in northeastern Ceara state.
With the growing popularity of renewable energy, CDC is interested in the transportation of equipment earmarked for wind power ventures in the country's Northeast. At the fair, CDC will have the chance to present its infrastructure to a broad specialised audience, Mario Jorge Cavalcanti, an executive at the company, reportedly said.
Over the past two years, wind energy equipment has gained prominence in the port's cargo handling operations. Last year alone, a total 43,142 tonnes were handled, up 30% in annual terms.
According to CDC's spokesperson quoted by Diario do Nordeste, the main sector clients of the marine terminal at present are French heavy engineering group Alstom (EPA:ALO), Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Ltd (BOM:532667), Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS), German engineering group Siemens AG (ETR:SIE) and US conglomerate General Electric Co (NYSE:GE).
