Brazil clears test operation of 240 MW in wind farms
Nov 21, 2014 - Brazil's electricity sector regulator Aneel has authorised the start-up of test operation of a total 239.9 MW in wind farms in Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco states as of Thursday.
US power plants operator ContourGlobal was allowed to test five wind plants, Asa Branca IV to VIII, each of 20 turbines and 32 MW.
In addition, the regulator allowed Italian company Enel Green Power (BIT:EGPW) to test its 18.8-MW Tacaico wind farm, as well as the Pedra do Geronimo and Pau Ferro plants with an installed capacity of 30.55 MW each.
Aneel said the companies could request commercial operation only after the completion of the test phase.
