Brazil clears commercial operation of 26-MW Modelo II wind plant
Oct 24, 2014 - Brazilian power sector watchdog Aneel allowed Italian clean energy company Enel Green Power SpA (BIT:EGPW) to start commercial operation of its Modelo II wind farm, with an installed capacity of 25.85 MW, as of Thursday.
The plant was built in Joao Camara, Rio Grande do Norte state, by Enel Green Power Modelo II Eolica SA.
Modelo II is the third wind plant of the group, after Joana and Emiliana of 28.2 MW each, to start power supply this month. Before that, Enel Green Power already had over 170 MW of wind capacity in operation in Brazil.
Also on Thursday, Aneel authorised commercial operation of a new, 75-MW turbine at the 3.75-GW Jirau hydroelectric complex, in Rondonia, increasing the operational capacity to 1,125 MW so far.
