Brazil Ceara to hold transmission line auctions for wind sector

Ceara's Department of Infrastructure or Seinfra confirmed on Tuesday the forthcoming two auctions for the construction of new transmission lines in Brazil will serve the state's wind sector.

The construction of new infrastructure will facilitate the flow of wind power generation in the state.

Brazil’s federal energy planning authority EPE ensured Ceara will be included in the next two auctions of transmission lines, scheduled for October and December this year, the government noted in a press release.

According to the Investment Program in Electric Power (PIEE), the October tender will auction a 97 km line between Sobral and Acarau cities in the northern region. The investment value was estimated at BRL 160 million (USD 42.9m/EUR 38.2m). The December auction will contract lines of 230 kV and 500 kV, related to the Milagres II, Pecem II, Acarau III, Ibiapina II and Tiangua substations.

The auctions are part of a BRL 16 billion package and include 10,500 km of transmission lines across the country.
