Neoenergia wins lots in Brazil's transmission auction
Jul 04, 2022 10:41 CESTJanuary 19 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy published on Monday the guidelines for the next two energy auctions, A-5 and A-6, to be held sequentially on September 30, 2021.
According to the ordinance published in the Official Gazette, the tenders will negotiate power contracts from wind, solar, hydro and biomass sources as well as coal, natural gas and solid urban waste.
The winners will secure power purchase agreements (PPA) with a 15-year term for wind and solar, a 25-year term for hydropower and a 20-year term for the rest. The contracts will become effective on January 1, 2026 for A-5 and January 1, 2027 for A-6.
Investors and interested parties can submit projects for registration by state-owned energy research firm EPE until March 29, with the exception for hydropower schemes with capacity greater than 50 MW, set for March 24.
The renewable energy schemes that have already been technically qualified in the A-3 and A-4 auctions scheduled for June 25, 2021 can re-enter the following tenders as long as the projects remain unchanged.
