Apr 25, 2013 - French building and civil works company Bouygues Construction said today it has won a contract for the design, construction and maintenance of three photovoltaic (PV) power plants of 10 MWp each in Thailand for solar energy producer Soleq Solar Thailand.
Under a USD 50 million (EUR 38m) deal, Bouygues Thai and Bouygues Energies & Services, subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction, will operate and maintain the solar farms for five years.
Design and construction works are scheduled to start next month, while handover is scheduled for end-2013.
Under the terms of the deal, the three PV plants will be equipped with more than 100,000 PV panels over 60 ha (148.3
acres). They will have an annual production of some 45 GWh, equal to the annual energy consumption of the households in a Thai city with 90,000 residents.
Each of the sites, to be located in the north-eastern part of Thailand, will have peak power of 10 MW.
Thailand is considered one of the most promising markets in Asia for the development of renewable energy projects. The government has set the target of covering 25% of the country's energy consumption with clean energy by 2021.
