March 16 (Renewables Now) - Canadian renewables developer Boralex Inc (TSE:BLX) has won 180 MW of solar projects in New York’s 2019 Renewable Energy Standard solicitation.

Four of the company’s projects were selected for the purchase of New York Tier-1 Eligible Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Boralex said on Friday. Namely, winners are the 120-MW Greens Corners, as well as the Sandy Creek, Bald Mountain and West River, of 19.99 MW each.

The solicitation was organised by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Following the selection, Boralex will work with the agency to sign Renewable Energy Standard Agreements for the purchase of RECs from the four power plants.

A total of 1,278 MW of projects were awarded as part of the competitive round.

While Greens Corners and Sandy Creek will be located in New York’s Jefferson County, the two other projects will be installed in Washington County and Saratoga County, respectively. The construction of the largest photovoltaic (PV) park will open around 100 jobs and 150 job positions in total will be created for building the three 19.99-MW plants, Boralex said.
