Oct 31, 2012 - Mexican bakery products company Grupo Bimbo (MXK:BIMBO) launched yesterday a 90 MW wind farm in Union Hidalgo municipality built by Demex, a local subsidiary of Spanish renewable energy firm Renovalia.
The construction of the wind farm cost nearly USD 200 million (EUR 154.3m) in which Bimbo did not take part as investor. The company said it has an agreement with Demex for long-term power supplies.
Initially, Piedra Larga supplies electricity to over 40 installations of Bimbo in Mexico as well as to warehouse and logistic firm Frialsa Frigorificos and lime producer Grupo Calidra.
The project, dubbed Piedra Larga, includes an increase of the installed capacity to 227.5 MW.
