October 9 (Renewables Now) - France’s eight tender for rooftop solar power capacity has awarded 129.4 MW of projects at final average prices lower than in the previous tender, for both targeted categories.
As many as 268 of projects were successful in the competitive round, which targeted plants with capacities of between 100 kW and 8 MW, the Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition said on Tuesday.
The final average price in the first category of projects -- between 100 kW and 500 kW -- came at EUR 97.48 (USD 106.96) per MWh, as compared to EUR 99/MWh in the previous round. The average price for 500 kW-8 MW installations fell to EUR 86.54/MWh from EUR 93/MWh in round seven, which was completed in June.
The full list of selected bidders and project details can be found on the Ministry’s website: https://www.ecologique-solidaire.gouv.fr/sites/default/files/Lauréats%20de%20la%20huitième%20période%20de%20l%27appel%20d%27offres%20PV%20sur%20bâtiment.pdf
The largest number of selected projects will be developed in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Most of the winning schemes have an installed capacity of less than 300 kW. The largest project is for a solar plant with a capacity of 5.01 MW.
France seeks to boost its installed solar capacity to between 35.6 GW and 44.5 GW in 2028 from 9.1 GW now. In support of that goal, the government last month announced plans to hold tenders for the construction of over 2 GW of solar systems, both rooftop and ground-mounted, in 2020.
