Belgian Solar Living goes bust, 60 jobs get lost

Dec 7, 2012 - Belgian solar firm Solar Living, former Solar Total, on Thursday was declared bankrupt by the court in Hasselt.

As a result of the bankruptcy of one of Belgium's largest solar panel suppliers, a total of 60 employees and the same number of subcontractors will lose their jobs.

The management of Solar Living has recently stepped down ahead of the looming insolvency. Creditors may file claims with insolvency administrator Patrick Bussers by January 6, 2013.

Solar Living, founded in 2006, experienced rapid growth amid the solar boom that was subsequently followed by abrupt slowdown in the wake of reduced subsidies and increasing competition. The refocusing to other renewable energy products came too late to keep the company afloat.
