Belgian electricity providers fear new feed-in tariffs may result in extra costs

Dec 10, 2012 - Belgian electricity providers fear additional costs and risks following the introduction of new net feed-in tariffs, local news supplier Belga reported last week.

Last Thursday, local energy regulator Creg approved a levy for new and existing green power installations of up to 10 kW. Owners of small facilities, mainly solar units but also small wind parks, will have to pay EUR 53 (USD 68.4) a year for each installed kW as of January 1.

The Federation of Belgian Electricity and Gas Companies (FEBEG) believes the new measure may result in higher number of payment defaults. It also sees extra costs for adjustment of the IT systems.
