BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH announced today it has acquired Scottish renewable energy service provider Becon Consultancy.
The acquired entity, which has been operational since 2009, is involved in the provision of high-voltage electrical services, landscaping maintenance and civil groundworks for renewable energy projects across the UK. It also delivers project management consultancy services, facilities management and operation and maintenance (O&M) solutions.
"The acquisition of Becon Consultancy is a natural progression for us and further strengthens our scope of services in the UK [..]," said Oliver Niedhoefer, BayWa re’s managing director. Financial details on the transaction were not disclosed.
The renewables unit of German diversified group BayWa AG (ETR:BYW6) is servicing more than 1 GW of wind and solar parks in the UK. Last month, BayWa r.e. Operation Services Ltd signed a two-year contract to operate and maintain two 5-MW solar farms in Exeter and Swansea, UK, on behalf of METKA EGN.
Overall, the company has more than 4.5 GW of assets under operations management globally, including Europe, the US, Australia, Africa and Central America, it said.
