BayWa acquires Canadian solar equipment distributor

July 29 (Renewables Now) - BayWa re renewable energy GmbH announced today it is taking over Canadian solar distributor and service provider National Solar Distributors Inc as part of its ongoing expansion in North America.

The renewables arm of German diversified group BayWa AG (ETR:BYW6) is buying a company that operates as a wholesaler of equipment for the residential and commercial grid-tie markets, as well as for industrial and small off-grid applications. The firm serves all of Canada's provinces and territories.

BayWa re noted that sharing its global logistics and technical expertise will further bolster the support offered to National Solar Distributors' customers from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Frank Jessel, global director of solar trade at BayWa re, said that Canada is now an important market for the company. “Our partnership with National Solar Distributors comes at an ideal time, with both companies and the market poised for an exciting period of continued growth,” he stated.
