Basin Electric, Clenera sign PPA for 150 MW of solar in Montana

Basin Electric Power Cooperative earlier this week said it has inked a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) for 150 MW of capacity from a project in Montana with Idaho-based renewable energy company Clenera LLC.

The Cabin Creek solar farm will be located near the city of Baker, Fallon County. It will consist of two 75-MW installations, which together will produce enough power to supply 30,000 households and save 265,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually.

Cabin Creek is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.

Basin Electric is a wholesale electric generation and transmission cooperative based in North Dakota that provides electricity in nine states. This is the second solar PPA for the cooperative, after in February it signed a contract with Geronimo Energy for a 128-MW solar project in South Dakota.
