The renewables unit of UK property developer Banks Group said on Tuesday it has filed a proposal to build a 5-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant at the site of a wind park in South Yorkshire, England.
Banks Renewables has submitted the plans to the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council this week. The scheme envisages installing solar panels in the southeast corner of the site where the 20.4-MW Penny Hill wind farm has been built already. The two installations will share the existing grid connection on the Penny Hill site.
Should the solar project goes ahead, the existing community benefits fund tied to the wind park will be increased by GBP 5,000 (USD 7,800/EUR 7,000) annually. It is currently worth some GBP 20,400 per year.
