Banco do Brasil to lend USD 223m for ethanol project in Colombia - report

(ADPnews) - Sep 8, 2010 - Brazilian state-run bank Banco do Brasil (SAO:BBAS3) will finance the construction of an ethanol plant in Colombia with a USD 223 million (EUR 175.8m) loan, Brazilian daily O Estado de Sao Paulo reported.
The plant will be built by Israeli group Merhav, which will acquire the equipment for the plant from Brazilian firm Uni-Systems.
The loan was agreed at the end of the week and will be disbursed under Brazil's Proex government programme, aimed at financing the exports of small firms.
The loan contract is expected to be signed soon.
