November 22 (Renewables Now) - Dutch construction company Ballast Nedam is moving back into the renewable energy market after previously disposing of its offshore wind activities.

The company has set up a unit, Ballast Nedam Renewables, that besides offshore wind will be active in onshore wind and solar parks.

According to a news release on Wednesday, the new business will develop, design, realise and manage sustainable energy systems. "The first international partnerships and construction team agreements have already been signed for Renewables," said director Arno Uiterweerd.

Ballast Nedam sold its offshore wind subsidiary Ballast Nedam Offshore to Van Oord at the end of 2014 and later, in 2016, disposed of its portfolio of offshore wind inspection and maintenance contracts in line with a strategy to focus on housing and mobility.
