Indian solar power producer Azure Power Global Ltd’s (NYSE:AZRE) net profit rose to INR 697 million (USD 9.5m/EUR 8.1m) in the first quarter of the 2021/22 fiscal year from INR 46 million a year earlier.The increase was attributed mainly to the commissioning of new projects which drove up revenues.Operating revenues in the April-June quarter came in at INR 4.44 billion, up 13% year-over-year, the company’s results showed on Monday.Electricity generation rose 25.8% to 1,112 million kWh as the company added 396 MW of operating capacity, including its rooftop portfolio commissioned since June 30, 2020.Azure Power, in which Canada’s Omers Infrastructure recently acquired a 19.4% stake, commissioned 62 MW and 1 MW in the current year and the prior year periods, respectively, reflecting COVID-19 disruptions.Megawatts operating grew 23% over the past year to 2,052 MW at the end of June, excluding the 153-MW rooftop portfolio the company had agreed to sell. Operating, Contracted & Awarded MW totalled 6,955 MW, the same as a year ago.For the full fiscal year, Azure Power continues to expect its operational capacity to be between 2,750 MW and 2,955 MW, and revenues of between INR 17.9 billion and INR 18.9 billion.Second-quarter revenues are seen at between INR 3.6 billion and INR 3.8 billion.(INR 1 = USD 0.014/EUR 0.012)
