Ecoppia Scientific Ltd (TASE:ECPA), the Israeli provider of water-free solar panel cleaning robots, has been contracted by India’s Azure Power Global Ltd (NYSE:AZRE) to provide its robotic solutions for a 450-MW project.
The contract with the Indian solar power producer was signed in October, Ecoppia, said on Sunday. While it did not provide specific details about the award, the company’s CEO Jean Scemama commented: “We see this long-term partnership as one of the growing signs that the solar industry is revolutionizing towards automated O&M.”
Azure Power’s project is now reaching advanced stages and scheduled to become operational at the beginning of next year’s first quarter.
The Ecoppia water-free robots clean solar panels without human interference and are remotely managed through a cloud-based control system. During the past four quarters Ecoppia has received contracts for more than 10 GW of projects, the Israeli firm noted, adding that its cleaning systems prevent soiling losses and equipment damages at the solar sites. It further went on to say that the COVID-19 environment has confirmed the “crucial” role of automation and advanced technologies in maintaining optimal solar production levels.
