Indian firm Azure Power Global Ltd (NYSE:AZRE) said on Tuesday it has commissioned a 100-MW solar park in India’s Andhra Pradesh state for power major NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555).
The photovoltaic (PV) facility, built on a 500-acre (2020-ha) plot of land, will sell electricity to state-owned utility NTPC at a tariff of INR 5.12 (USD 0.08/EUR 0.07) per kWh under a 25-year contract. The generated power will be used to electrify adjacent areas.
The project was auctioned by NTPC and developed by Solar Park Implementation Agency (SPIA) and Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corp Ltd (APSPCL). Solar power producer Azure Power took care of the construction works, which were initiated in December 2016 and completed on schedule.
The solar plant forms a portion of the 1,000-MW Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park in the southeastern Indian state.
