September 12 (Renewables Now) - Swiss renewable power producer Axpo Holding AG today announced its decision to integrate its wind and solar power operations into two in-house divisions following the strong growth in the two business fields over the past few years.
"With this step, we want to underpin the importance of the wind and solar business areas, and send out a clear signal for our strategy in the area of renewables," said Andy Heiz, Head Business Area Generation & Distribution and Deputy CEO.
On October 1, Volkswind’s current CEO Katja Stommel will become the Head of the new Wind division, while Antoine Millioud, currently CEO of sector player Aventron Ltd, will head the Solar division later this autumn. In addition, Millioud will be in charge of solar unit Urbasolar. His departure was unveiled by Aventron in early July.
Axpo noted that these two business areas currently employ more than 500 of its total workforce, which approaches 5,000 people.
Meanwhile, Christoph Sutter, the current head of Renewables at Axpo, has chosen to leave the company this autumn.
