AVIC Heavy inks 1.7-GW wind, PV pact in Inner Mongolia

September 14 (SeeNews) - Chinese industrial firm AVIC Heavy Machinery Co Ltd (SHA:600765 ) said Thursday it plans to construct 1,500 MW of wind farms along with 200 MW of photovoltaic (PV) parks in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The projects will be realised through agreements with the local governments of Horqin Left Back Banner, Horqin Right Middle Banner and Horqin Right Front Banner, according to a statement on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

As part of the alliance, the company’s unit China Aviation Industry Renewable Energy Corp will invest and build 500 MW of wind and 100 MW of solar capacity in each of the first two regions. The deal with the Horqin Right Front Banner authority covers only 500 MW of wind power capacity.

After the project development framework agreement, the next step for AVIC Heavy will be to start carrying out preparatory works at the project sites, it noted. The exact amount of the required investment was not revealed.
