March 7 (Renewables Now) - Attis Industries (NASDAQ:ATIS) has announced on Monday plans to build a green tech campus near the ethanol plant it recently acquired from Sunoco LP in Fulton, New York.
Attis is looking to purchase 300 to 400 acres (121.4-161.9 hectares) of land near the ethanol facility to set up a biodiesel plant, which could use as feedstock the corn extract produced from the ethanol facility, and a bio-refinery. In the long term, the company is eyeing some solar and wind power generation capacity near the site. Its renewable energy unit Attis Innovations will operate the facilities.
The Fulton plant can currently produce 85 million gallons (321.8m litres) of ethanol annually, as well as other products such as carbon dioxide (CO2), dried distilled grains and corn oil, Attis said. The company projects that the plant will generate revenues of over USD 160 million (EUR 141.7m) at current capacity.
Attis is working towards implementing measures to increase the plant’s output to 100 million gallons of ethanol, translating into roughly USD 20 million of extra revenues.
