Oct 17, 2013 - US firm Ascent Solar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:ASTI) said Tuesday it would expand the direct retail chain offering its EnerPlex solar-integrated chargers to 10 outlets by end-2013.
At present, the thin-film solar module developer sells the products at three kiosks in Colorado. In the last three months of the year, it plans to open seven more kiosks in the states of California and Nevada in “strategically selected locations”. Ascent Solar has also clinched a deal with Utah-based marketing firm MarketStar Corp to assist it in the management of its kiosk operations. The partnership agreement also envisages to boost the number of Ascent Solar’s kiosks to 20 by the middle of next year.
The EnerPlex products are suitable for portable electronic devices. In the product line are solar-powered charging cases with battery storage and solar-powered charging cases for Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and Samsung Electronics’s (KRX:005935) Galaxy smartphone.
At the beginning of October, Ascent Solar started offering the EnerPlex solar chargers at the online store of US retail giant Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT).
