Ascent Solar signs unveils distribution deal with UK's West Coast

Jul 12, 2013 - US thin-film solar modules maker Ascent Solar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:ASTI) said yesterday it had partnered with West Coast Ltd, which distributes electronics in the UK and Ireland via PowerIT-2-Channel Ltd.

The move will enable Ascent Solar to accelerate the introduction of its EnerPlex consumer products in the area, it said in a press release. In the past several months, the company announced it had signed similar deals with distributors in China and Scandinavia as well.

The EnerPlex offerings include the Kickr portable solar chargers, Surfr solar and battery phone cases and Jumpr battery packs. The product line will now be available at D Phone outlets in four of the country’s largest regions.

Earlier this week, Ascent Solar said it will build a facility in China’s Jiangsu province for the production of its copper-indium-gallium-selenium (CIGS) photovoltaic (PV) modules in partnership with the city of Suqian. The project will consist of three phases to be executed over six years, with the first stage taking up a total investment of around USD 160 million (EUR 123m).
