Ascent Solar, GlobalWatt team up on solar modules development
(ADPnews) - Oct 22, 2010 - US thin-film solar modules maker Ascent Solar Technologies (NASDAQ:ASTI) said yesterday it had agreed with California-based sector firm GlobalWatt Inc to jointly develop adaptable, retractable solar modules to provide an additional source of power to existing solar units.
"The integration of Ascent’s high power density, low specific weight modules into GlobalWatt’s portable portfolio will enable an immediate increase in available deployable power generation without an increase in system weight," said Robert Meck, vice president of product application development at Ascent.
The companies will add an extra power unit and new solar applications, thus changing their dynamics, without adding any additional weight. The new solar modules could be charged faster and used for a longer period, when usage or workload are at peak levels.
