Argentina signs RenovAr contracts for 2 biogas projects
Argentina RenovAr Round 2 Biomass Projects
Argentina has signed contracts with two projects, with a combined capacity of 1.8 MW, that were winners in round 2 of the RenovAr renewable energy auction programme.
The contracts are for the 1-MW Pacuca Bio Energia biogas project and the 0.8-MW Ampliacion Yanquetruz II, an expansion of the CT Yanquetruz biogas plant from RenovAr Round 1 that is already in operation, the Undersecretariat for Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mines announced on Wednesday.
Located in the provinces of Buenos Aires and San Luis, the plants are under development by local companies Pacuca SA and Asociacion de Cooperativas Argentinas Ltd, respectively. Both facilities will use pig manure as fuel while the latter one will also convert corn fodder into energy.
Of the total 88 winning projects, 56 have signed contracts with Argentina's wholesale electric market management company CAMMESA, which represents a combined capacity of 1,158.4 MW.
